Lens Index & Coatings
Lens Index Introduction
Our lenses are all made with advanced plastics and are available in seven indexes, which determine how thick or thin your glasses lenses are. Those with a stronger prescription often prefer high-index for thinner lenses, while those who are active may need impact-resistant options. It is important to choose suitable lens index according to your prescription, as this will not only impact aesthetics/thickness of lens, but also the comfort of the glasses and lens. When you fill in your prescription, our website will recommend the suitable lens index for you automatically. Applying higher index lenses (1.60 index and above) can solve the problem of having a thick edge on a negative lens, or a thick center on a positive lens. Combining a higher index lens with an aspheric shape results in a lens which is noticeably thinner and lighter, bringing better vision, and a more comfortable wearing experience. However, the ultimate thickness of the lenses is determined by the frame size (including lens height, lens width), frame material and your PD. If you choose a big frame the lens edge will undoubtedly be thick. Frames with thin metal rim will also make the lens look thicker. If the frame is not the best for your PD, the lens may not be beautiful and thin as you expect.
What lens thickness should I get?
The lens thickness you should get depends on your prescription and your lifestyle. Thicker lenses are more affordable, but can only accommodate lower vision correction needs. Thinner lenses are lightweight (and more stylish!) and can accommodate ALL kinds of vision needs, including higher prescriptions!
1.50
Standard index, suitable for full-rim frames, recommended for spherical power of +/-1.00 or below, and cylindrical power +/-1.00 or below. If you prefer thinner lenses, then the higher index lenses are recommended. 1.50 lenses contain 85-90% UV protection (Please choose higher index lenses to get 100% UV protection).
Anti-scratch hard coating, water-resistant & oil-resistant coating included.
1.56
Up to 15% thinner than 1.50 lens, suitable for full-rim frames, recommended for spherical power of +1.00~+2.00/-1.00~-3.00 or below, and cylindrical power of +/-3.00 or below. If you prefer thinner lenses, then the higher index lenses are recommended. 1.56 lenses contain 85-90% UV protection (Please choose higher index lenses to get 100% UV protection). Anti-scratch hard coating, water-resistant & oil-resistant coating included.
1.591
1.591 lenses are made with premium polycarbonate. Up to 20% thinner than 1.50 lens, suitable for full-rim, half-rim, and rimless frames, recommended for spherical power of +2.00~+3.00/-3.00~-6.00 and cylindrical power of +/-4.50 or below. 1.591 lenses are lighter, more impact-resistant than 1.60, and better prevent UV light. The higher index lenses greatly reduces the thickness of the lenses edge. Anti-scratch hard coating, water-resistant & oil-resistant coating and 100% UV protection included.
1.60
Up to 20% thinner than 1.50 lens, suitable for full-rim, half-rim, and rimless frames, recommended for spherical power of +2.00~+3.00/-3.00~-6.00 and cylindrical power of +/-4.50 or below. The higher index lenses greatly reduces the thickness of the lenses edge. Anti-scratch hard coating, water-resistant & oil-resistant coating and 100% UV protection included.
1.61
Up to 20% thinner than 1.50 lens, suitable for full-rim, half-rim, and rimless frames, recommended for spherical power of +2.00~+3.00/-3.00~-6.00 and cylindrical power of +/-4.50 or below. MR-8 material (1.61) are more impact-resistant than 1.60, and achieve superb visual clarity with higher abbe number. The higher index lenses greatly reduces the thickness of the lenses edge. Anti-scratch hard coating, water-resistant & oil-resistant coating and 100% UV protection included.
1.67
Up to 30% thinner than 1.50 lens, suitable for full-rim, half-rim, and rimless frames, recommended for strong prescription with spherical power of +3.00~+6.00/-6.00~-8.00 and with cylindrical power of +/-4.50 or below. Super thin 1.67 lenses are more impact-resistant than 1.50 lenses, and achieve superb visual clarity with higher abbe number. Anti-scratch hard coating, water-resistant & oil-resistant coating and 100% UV protection included.
1.74
Up to 40% thinner than 1.50 lens, suitable for full-rim, half-rim, and rimless frames, recommended for strong prescription with spherical power of +6.00 / -8.00 and above and with cylindrical power of +/-6.00 or below. It has all of the advantages of the 1.67. To avoid thick lenses and get a pair of better-looking eyeglasses, 1.74 index lenses are your best choice. Anti-scratch hard coating, water-resistant & oil-resistant coating and 100% UV protection included.
Aoolia Advanced Lens
Aoolia Advanced Lens
Aoolia Lenses are advanced lenses that have multiple coatings and functions:UV protection function blocks the ultraviolet (UV) rays and thus protects your eye from the harmful light.
Anti-scratch hard coating is much harder and more resistant to scratch, and therefore has greater durability.
Anti-reflective coating reduces glare, reflections, and halos around lights at night, improving the vision and the appearance of your glasses.
Water-resistant coating repels dirt and water, making it easier to clean.
Oleophobic coating protects the lenses, improves smoothness, and reduces fingerprints.
Aoolia Blue Light Blocking Lens
Aoolia’s Blue Light Blocking Lens have UV & blue light filtering technology with the added bonus of anti-reflection, anti-scratch, anti-glare, anti-smudge, dust-proof, and waterproof function. It effectively prevents blue light from passing through the lens and provide 100% UV protection, reducing your eye fatigue and help you see with better clarity.
Aoolia Photochromic Lens
Aoolia’s light-adaptive lenses are clear indoors for normal glasses purpose and darken automatically outdoors when exposed to the sunlight, acting as sunglasses.
Selectable Coatings
Anti-fog Coating helps prevent your lenses from fogging up. The anti-fog coating is on both sides of the lenses.
Anti-glare Coating reduces glare, reflections, and halos, and filter various strong lights.
Mirror Coating is a colored reflective optical coating on the outside of the lenses to make them appear like small mirrors. You can choose different tints of the mirror coating. It decreases the amount of light passing through the tinted lens by a further 10-60%, especially useful for occasions of sand, water, snow, and higher altitudes.
Photochromic Coating makes lenses dark when exposed to the sunlight and change to clear when the wearer is indoors.
Tint is a permanent color added to your lenses, making your glasses become a pair of prescription sunglasses.
